Artist Profile - Joe Shemesh

I am a Tasmanian artist best known for my minimalist-style videos and still images.

Utilizing the mediums of filmmaking and photography, I explore the multi-layered facets within Tasmania’s mysterious landscapes. For me, Tasmania’s dramatic seasonal transformations, contrasted with the cycle of life, evoke the constant evolution of our spirit.

As our fast-paced world assails us with numerous fleeting pictures every day, I seek to create images that encourage viewers to slow down and reflect on a deeper narrative to the world around us. May 2025
